An innocent video that has suddenly taken up the world by storm only goes to prove that ther each of social media is astounding.
Ofcourse, we can trend to going ‘pawri’ which was an innocuous mistake or dig at South Asians who ape the western accent when they say the word ‘party’ or we can use its power to highlight the twisted mind of our Chief Justice Sharad Arvind Bobde.
You cannot expect a Country to be progressive when we have regressive thinkers. Rape is anun-pardonable odious crime. And there is no other way to highlight that. By asking the assaulter to marry the victim, not only did the CJ show his own depraved mind but he casually, didn’t think of marital rape as crime either.
Legally, you are married so it’s a fair field.. is this what the underlying statement means?
It isn’t a pleasant feeling to wake up every morning and find another story, another victim of the same heinous crime. There have been acquittals of perpetrators due to their stature and a lot more roaming free, until the next target comes along.
Is this how theDaughters of India will live? Instead of being able to step out free and uninhibited in the mountains, hanging out with friends and creating content for social media… here we are.. 74 years after independence, still struggling with slavery..
Unseen and Unbonded… but slaves to the system.
If, in the same way, all our celebrities, influencers and social media activists took it upon them to condemn the men who harm, don’t you think the outreach would be larger than life? Don’t you think that maybe, just maybe India’s girls could roam as free spirited and safe as they were born to be?
This Women’sDay, how about we make a pledge to create content that sensationalises thei nternet and ends up making a real difference to the world, so that together we can all sit back and say – Yeh hum hai. Yeh humari India hai aur Dekho – Yehhumari pawri ho rahi hain!
