The United States Presidential elections kept millions of world citizens glued to their gadgets for the latest count. It was nail biting, nerve wrecking close and ofcourse, throw in the incumbent President’s childish tantrums! Voila! It was way beyond sensational!
It has only been two days and the internet is already flooded with memes on ‘little donny refusing to leave the Oval Office.’ In a matter of a few days, the world’s most powerful man becomes just another man! Ofcourse, it is a little hard to digest and for Trump, his brash un-presidential like comments only make it easy for the trolls to mount up.
Trump has issued statements saying that the elections were rigged and has filed over half a dozen lawsuits against the Democrat President elect. So far, there is no credible evidence to suggest any fraud in the electoral counts. His refusal to give the concession speech – the first in American history, raises eyebrows at his immaturity and inability to accept that it is indeed Over.. for now.
Could it be Karma? For four years ago, when Donald Trump became President, there was much speculation about him conniving with the Russians to win the presidential race! “It is one thing for Russian hackers in St. Petersburg to sabotage the US Government; its far more tragic when the President does the same from the White House.” (Nicholas Christof – NYT News Service)
As the voting neared completion, Trump told his staffers – “Winning is easy. Losing is never easy. Not for me, its not…… I am still President.”
The official results will be out on December 14. While President elect Biden and Harris are busy chartering out plans to reconnect the divisive U.S. of A., the incumbent Donald Trump is grappling with insecurity issues. Who is going to bell the cat? Who is going to sit him down and say that he can’t have the crown anymore?
In the end, what stays is the maturity with which a man conducts his life. All through his turbulent Presidency, the world has seen and been privy to his brazen speeches and his appalling impulsive decisions. He may have done good for his country, but his refusal to accede, his denial to accept and his demeanour towards his opponent, only bring to surface the real underlying fact – He is a sore loser.
Sure, he can campaign again in 2024, but for now, as past president of the United States of America, would it not be institutionally correct for him to accept that there is someone out there who is better and more equipped to lead the country!
At every stage in life, no matter what is thrown at you, the ones that stand out are the ones that held their ground, with silence, with dignity and with respect!
No matter what Dec 14 brings around, in the Most Powerful Office in the World, justice has already prevailed and the Best Man has already won!
